Eli Roth

Eli Roth, the American director, screenwriter, actor, and film producer, curated Red Light Disco – Dancefloor Seductions from Italian Sexploitation Cinema for CAM Sugar.

Roth delved into the CAM Sugar archive to rediscover the sounds of Italy’s "forbidden" red-light cinema from the '70s and '80s. The collection stands as a tribute to the centrality of the dancefloor in Italian cinema and society during those years, featuring 20 tracks – 8 of which are previously unreleased – composed between 1969 and 1984. The sounds range from psychedelic deliriums and funk to sexytronic extravaganzas and disco Italian-style. It features both instrumentals and vocal numbers, performed by icons of the Italian sexy comedy, such as Gloria Guida, as well as by elusive and enigmatic singers, like Marivana. Red Light Disco, available on CD and double vinyl, comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes a booklet with previously unreleased material from the CAM Sugar archive, liner notes by Eli Roth, and interviews with key figures of the genre: actress and muse Edwige Fenech, maestro Franco Campanino and Stefania Lechner, daughter of seminal character actor Bombolo. The deluxe vinyl edition features a mirrored cover and an exclusive 45 RPM single with two tracks, available for the first time on 7", to turn the dancefloor into a red light party.
