Cookie Policy

Definitions, characteristics and application of the legislation

Cookies are small text files that websites send and store on your computer or mobile device, which are then retransmitted to the same websites upon your next visit. Cookies allow websites to remember your actions and preferences (such as login information, language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they don't have to be re-entered when you return to the website or navigate from one page to another. Cookies are therefore used to perform computer authentication, monitor sessions, and store information regarding the activities of users who access a website. They may also contain a unique identifier that allows the user's browsing activity within the website to be tracked for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a website, users may also receive cookies from websites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies). Some operations cannot be performed without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary for the functioning of the site.

There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and these can remain on the user's computer for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a pre-set expiration date.

Under current Italian law, the use of cookies does not always require the user's express consent. Specifically, "technical cookies," i.e., those used solely for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user, do not require such consent. These are, in other words, cookies that are essential for the functioning of the site or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.

Among technical cookies, which do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see the Provision Identification of simplified procedures for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies of 8 May 2014 and subsequent clarifications, hereinafter referred to as the "Provision") also includes:

  • “analytics cookies” where used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself,
  • navigation or session cookies (for authentication),
  • functional cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user.

Conversely, "profiling cookies," which are used to create user profiles and send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet, require the user's prior consent.

Types of cookies used by the Site

We have classified the cookies we use based on their type of use into:

  • TECHNICAL COOKIES:
  1. navigation or session cookies
  2. of functionality
  3. in analytics

2) THIRD PARTY COOKIES

  • TECHNICAL COOKIES:
  1. NAVIGATION OR SESSION COOKIES

These cookies allow for normal use of the website and its services, such as making purchases, authenticating access to restricted areas, or maintaining personal preferences. This type of cookie can be further distinguished based on how long it remains on the user's device: those that are automatically deleted at the end of each browsing session are called "session cookies" (for example, the aforementioned online shopping cart). If, on the other hand, they have a longer lifespan, they are called "persistent cookies." These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the website and do not require the prior consent of users for their installation.

Here is a list of the aforementioned cookies:

2) THIRD PARTY COOKIES

Third-party cookies are related to services provided by third parties: they are used for various purposes, such as analyzing the performance of marketing campaigns and/or delivering personalized advertising on our website and on partner websites. This activity is called retargeting and is based on browsing activity, such as searched destinations, viewed properties, and other information. The third party provides these services in exchange for information about the user's visit to our website. Therefore, third-party cookie providers are also required to comply with relevant regulations. For this reason, we refer you to the links to the third-party websites' web pages, where you can find cookie consent forms and their related policies.
